Inspect Windows printer queues with PowerShell
A print failure may be tied to one queue, one driver or one endpoint. Start by listing configured printers and ports instead of reinstalling all printing components.
Environment and inputs: Windows 11 · Command Prompt unless PowerShell is specified
Try the diagnostic command
Use the stated shell and platform. Replace sample domains, addresses, services and paths with values from the system you are authorized to support.
Get-Printer | Select-Object Name, DriverName, PortName, PrinterStatus
How to read the result
The output maps each queue to a driver and port. PrinterStatus depends on what the provider reports and may not immediately reflect a physical paper jam or network outage.
What to do next
Compare the affected queue with its intended printer address, then inspect the device display and test a single approved document. Identify whether other users share the failure.
Before you make a change
The PrintManagement module must be available. Do not delete queues or clear all jobs before checking whether other users have important pending work.
