Windows Server / Active Directory & Group Policy
Review recent AD replication failures across a selected scope
A recurring replication fault may affect several controllers despite an apparently healthy single partner. Gather a bounded scope of failure records.
Environment and inputs: Windows Server 2022 / 2025 baseline · Windows PowerShell with the specified role or RSAT modules; native utilities are identified in the text. Use delegated administration and elevation only where required.
Start with this check
Confirm the host, shell and access role. Replace sample names, paths, domains and interfaces with approved targets. These are diagnostic commands; assess policy and workload impact before making changes.
Get-ADReplicationFailure -Target 'corp.example.com' -Scope Domain
Read the result
With delegated AD administration access, this returns replication failures for the named domain scope. Compare the returned controllers and failure timestamps.
Resolve and verify
Group failures by error and dependency, then inspect the affected partners directly. Confirm normal replication across the intended scope after repair.
Before changing production
Avoid wide forced synchronization or topology rebuilds before understanding which dependency is shared.
