PLC / Maintenance, Reliability & OT Security
Verify the full machine readiness path after correcting a PLC fault
Clearing a controller fault does not prove the process, actuators, retained state and independent protective functions are ready for restart.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Review the approved recovery sequence, current I/O and device diagnostics, application state and required local confirmations without initiating movement.
Interpret the evidence
A healthy CPU and cleared alarm are necessary context, not a complete restart authorization. Physical conditions may have changed during the interruption.
Resolve and verify
Have the responsible operators and engineering owners complete the machine's validated recovery and acceptance procedure, then monitor the original failure condition.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not automatically restart machinery or bypass a remaining prerequisite because the PLC diagnostic screen is clear.
