PLC / PLC Programming, Timing & State Logic
Investigate a PLC command bit written by both HMI and logic
A momentary HMI write can be overwritten before processing or remain set after a communication interruption, depending on the design.
Environment and inputs: Industrial PLC / automation guidance · Verify the exact controller, module, firmware, engineering tool and machine documentation. Linked vendor examples apply to their stated products and library versions; observation, state changes and physical work require distinct authorization.
Observe and record
Review command ownership, acknowledgment behavior, update timing and every writer in the approved PLC and HMI projects.
Interpret the evidence
A screen button event is not guaranteed to align with a PLC scan. A shared command-state bit can create ambiguous ownership.
Resolve and verify
Implement the approved request-and-acknowledgment or equivalent platform-supported design and test communication loss and reconnection safely.
Machine and data safeguards
Do not use repeated HMI writes or output forcing to compensate for an unverified command handshake.
