ORA-29024: investigate certificate validation in an Oracle connection
A TCPS or HTTPS operation can fail when the trust chain, name or certificate validity is wrong. Identify which wallet and host the failing component actually uses.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT SYSTIMESTAMP FROM dual;
Read the result
From an authorized healthy session, this provides the server time for a validity comparison. It does not inspect the wallet or prove that the certificate chain is trusted.
Resolve and verify
Inspect the configured wallet through approved tooling and compare the presented chain, host name and clock. Install only verified CA material in the correct managed wallet and retest the original flow.
Operational precautions
Do not disable certificate validation or copy private wallet material into a ticket. Client and database wallets can be separate.
