ORA-16191: investigate redo-transport authentication
A standby can be reachable while redo shipping fails authentication. Check the actual remote login path and password-file management process.
Environment and inputs: Oracle Database 19c baseline · SQL*Plus-compatible SQL unless RMAN, DGMGRL, ADRCI or a host shell is specified. Check release, patch level, edition and container first.
Start with this diagnostic
Use the stated SQL, RMAN, DGMGRL or host shell and replace sample names with approved targets. DBA and V$ views need authorized catalog access in the correct container. Do not grant broad privileges for an example.
SELECT username, sysdba, sysoper, sysbackup, sysdg FROM v$pwfile_users;
Read the result
The view reports privileged password-file identities visible on this database. It does not reveal passwords or prove the two members have synchronized authentication material.
Resolve and verify
Compare the configured transport identity and approved password-file deployment across members, then repair authentication through the DBA's secure procedure.
Operational precautions
Do not paste password files or privileged account secrets into tickets or reset unrelated production credentials.
