Client-to-OSD reachability beyond the monitor endpoint
A client can contact cluster monitors but cannot perform useful I/O. The monitor path can work while required OSD addresses remain blocked or incorrectly routed.
Environment and inputs: Ceph and storage transport dependencies; match health identifiers and recovery behavior to the installed release. Diagnostic/design example; not tested on production equipment.
Collect the evidence
Record addresses returned to the client, route selection, security policy and failed connections to the actual storage daemons. Compare client network context with a known-working node.
Explain the result
Monitor access supports discovery and control interactions; it does not carry every data operation on behalf of the client. Storage access may require additional direct paths.
Plan the fix
Repair the authorized client-to-storage routes and service policy according to the deployed release. Keep daemon addressing consistent with the network that clients are intended to use.
Check the result and rollback
Validate read and write operations plus OSD failure behavior from each client segment. Revert if access expands to untrusted networks or discovery still returns addresses unavailable to legitimate clients.
