Kubernetes / Pods, Containers & Application Health
Find the init container blocking a Kubernetes Pod
Application containers cannot start until required init containers finish successfully. Inspect their state and logs separately.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl -n app logs pod/web-0 -c init-config --tail=100
Read the result
The command reads the named init container's available output. Pod description is needed to confirm its actual state and retry history.
Resolve and verify
Compare the first init error with mounted configuration, permissions and backend dependencies. Repair the managed initialization step and verify successful completion.
Before changing production
Do not remove initialization that enforces data or security prerequisites merely to start the main container.
