Kubernetes / Cluster Operations, Access & Incident Response
Investigate an expired Kubernetes client credential without exposing it
A CLI login can fail because its certificate or external authentication session expired. Establish the target and failure stage before editing trust.
Environment and inputs: Kubernetes · kubectl with supported client/server versions and delegated RBAC. Examples use namespace app unless noted. Check context, namespace, APIs and provider support first.
Start with this check
Confirm the environment and replace sample objects, namespaces, images, paths and hosts with approved targets. Share only relevant, sanitized output. Follow the workload owner’s process for changes.
kubectl config current-context
kubectl version --client
Read the result
These commands identify selected context and client version without printing credential material. They do not validate the server certificate or renew an external login.
Resolve and verify
Compare the exact authentication or x509 error with the approved access provider and system clock. Renew through the normal credential workflow and verify the intended API target.
Before changing production
Do not use insecure-skip-tls-verify, share kubeconfig secrets or replace a cluster CA with an unverified file.
